Introduction to DLD

NOT Gate Using NOR Gate

An NOT logic Gate can be made using NOR logic gates. As we know, NOR is a universal logic gate, meaning it can be used to build other logic gates such as OR, AND, NOT, NAND, XOR, and XNOR. Implementing a NOT gate using a NOR gate is useful when you need an NOT logic circuit but only have NOR gates available; an NOT logic gate is unavailable.

NOT Logic Gate

NOT logic gate is also called an inverter, which takes one input and produces an output that is the reverse of the input.

  • If the input is 0, then the output will be 1
  • If the input is 1, then the output will be 0

The basic NOT logic gate with its truth table is given below

NOR Logic Gate

The NOR gate is a fundamental logic gate to perform the NOT-OR operation. It produces a HIGH output (1) only when all inputs are LOW (0); if any input is HIGH (1), the output is LOW (0).

The basic NOR logic gate with its truth table is given below

NOT Gate Using NOR Gate

A NOT gate can be implemented using a single NOR gate by connecting the same input to both inputs of the NOR gate. Following diagram explains the process
